Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin are actually already married!

Prepare yourself, cause this whole debacle is quite confusing. 

To summarise: Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin are officially married - but they don't see it that way. 

It turns out that the star couple really did get married in an official civil ceremony at a New York City courthouse on Thursday afternoon. Legally, that means the pair are now man and wife.

But apparently, that’s not how Justin & Hailey see it!

In a tweet that has since been deleted, Baldwin herself took to social media to discuss the speculation yesterday, writing (below):

“I understand where the speculation is coming from, but I’m not married yet!”

Wait, what?

A friend of the couple explained to People, that Baldwin and Bieber believe “a civil ceremony and their ‘real’ wedding are two separate things.”

Another “religious source” added more info, too, saying (below):

“What happened at the courthouse is a courthouse thing — a legal thing. But marriage is two people making a vow before God and the people they love.”

Basically, they're married in the legal sense but waiting for their wedding to make it official. Cute!
